Nissan Navara D23 / NP300 Navara (2014-current)

Codes: D23. Also called: NP300 Navara, NP300 Frontier / Frontier (Latin America), Renault Alaskan, Mercedes-Benz X-Class.

How to tell it apart: V-motion chrome grille with boomerang LED DRLs (2015-2020) or a big blocky interlock grille with C-shaped lamps (2021 on); coil-sprung rear on dual cabs.

  • 2021 facelift (5 Nov 2020): Larger interlock grille (Titan style), C-shaped LED headlights, LED tail lamps, new rear bumper with step; PRO-4X grade (Practical Motoring 5 Nov 2020).

  • Australia: ANCAP: dual-cab build and on-sale dates from March 2015; ANCAP text also says 'introduced in mid-2015'. Pre-facelift rating ends 29 Nov 2020.
  • United States: US kept the D40 Frontier to MY2021 then D41 (Wikipedia).
  • Europe and the UK: UK showrooms from January 2016, Double Cab and King Cab (Nissan Insider 12 Nov 2015). Barcelona production due to end Dec 2021; facelift not sold in Europe; UK sales to end when stock ran out in early 2022 (Professional Pickup 24 Feb 2021).
  • South Africa: Imported from Thailand from March 2017 (Cars.co.za 13 Mar 2017). Built at Rosslyn from mid-2021 (Cars.co.za 31 Mar 2025). Rosslyn production recently ended; imports from Thailand from Q4 2026, still D23 (TimesLive 28 Jul 2026).

Nissan Frontier 3rd generation US (MY2022-current)

Codes: D41. Also called: Frontier V6 Pro-4X (Mexico).

How to tell it apart: Retro 'Hardbody'-inspired squared-off body with a large rectangular grille and a deep bumper; MY2025 adds three horizontal slots across the top of the grille.

  • MY2025 refresh (2024): Revised front fascia, grille and bumper, new 17 in wheels, 12.3 in screen standard, wider long-bed Crew Cab availability (Wikipedia; search snippets of J.D. Power and Capital One agree but pages were not opened).
